Ugandan singer Azawi has reignited conversations in the local entertainment scene after issuing a bold challenge to her peers: step up for a music battle—if they believe they can beat her.
The “Quinamino” hitmaker, known for her steady rise since 2019, confidently stated that no artist from her era matches her consistency, catalog, or performance edge.
“Anyone from my era who thinks they can beat me should come forward—I’m ready,” Azawi asserted.
Azawi drew a clear distinction between her generation and earlier waves of artists. She explained that her breakthrough came during the COVID-19 period, positioning her in a different era from established names like Fik Fameica and Pallaso. While acknowledging their success, she maintained that they fall outside her competitive bracket.

When asked about newer acts such as Alien Skin, Azawi remained firm, noting that although they are relevant, they have yet to prove the ability to produce timeless music comparable to hers.
Since her breakout in late 2019, Azawi has consistently delivered hit songs, with “Quinamino” marking a turning point in her career. Her growing catalog and strong stage presence have solidified her position as one of Uganda’s leading female artists.
Her remarks come at a time when Uganda’s music industry is witnessing renewed interest in lyrical and performance rivalries, following conversations involving Eddy Kenzo and A Pass.
As anticipation builds around potential responses, Azawi’s challenge signals a rising competitive spirit in the industry—one that could redefine how artists engage and showcase their dominance on the musical stage.
