“Bebe Cool Survives by Pulling Others Down,” Eddy Kenzo Says as Rivalry Escalates

The long-running rivalry between Uganda’s music heavyweights Eddy Kenzo and Bebe Cool has taken another dramatic turn, with Kenzo openly accusing the Gagamel boss of surviving by pulling others down.

The two award-winning musicians, who are both actively involved in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign trail, appear to be drifting further apart as their differences continue to spill over from music into the political space.

Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Eddy Kenzo — who also serves as a Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives — claimed he harbors no personal grudge against Bebe Cool but believes confrontation is simply part of his rival’s way of staying relevant.

“I don’t care about Bebe Cool and his actions. I respect the people who came before me, but personally he is always fighting — he survives by that and I don’t care,” Kenzo said.

The friction between the two stars is reportedly rooted in disagreements over political influence, access to power, financial support, and recognition within government circles. These issues have increasingly divided opinion within Uganda’s creative industry, especially as both musicians continue to appear at high-profile political events.

Despite the sharp remarks, Kenzo insisted that his main focus remains on the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for next month. He emphasized that his priority is ensuring President Museveni retains power rather than engaging in endless industry battles.

Kenzo’s comments have since reignited heated debate online, with supporters from both camps clashing across social media platforms. As politics and entertainment continue to intertwine, the rivalry between Uganda’s music giants shows no signs of cooling down.
