Ugandan singer Bebe Cool has broken his silence on the ongoing detention of TikToker Luwilight, revealing that he forgave her long ago but insisting that her freedom is no longer in his hands.
Luwilight was arrested on January 13th over alleged hate speech comments about the cake business owned by Bebe Cool’s wife, Zuena Kirema. Since then, she has spent over a month on remand, a situation that has sparked emotional debate across social media platforms.

While many online users have painted the situation as a personal feud, Bebe Cool says that is far from the truth.
According to the Gagamel boss, both he and Zuena chose forgiveness early on and moved past the controversy privately. He maintains that he holds no personal grudge against the TikToker and does not seek revenge.
However, the singer expressed frustration with what he described as misinformation being spread online. He believes that self-appointed “social media lawyers” and some of Luwilight’s close associates may have escalated tensions rather than helping her situation.

In a pointed remark, Bebe Cool also criticized her legal team, claiming they have not taken formal steps to engage him for any additional statement that could potentially support her case. He suggested that more focus has been placed on public appearances than on resolving the legal matter.
Despite the backlash, Bebe Cool insists he cannot be responsible for securing her release. In his view, that responsibility lies squarely with Luwilight and her lawyers.
Meanwhile, public reaction remains divided. Some believe forgiveness should have translated into active support for her release, while others argue that once a matter enters the legal system, it is beyond personal control.
As the case continues, emotions remain high not just because of celebrity names involved, but because it highlights the growing tension between online speech, accountability, and the real-life consequences that can follow.
