Renowned songwriter-turned-musician Dokta Brain has shocked fans after openly admitting that he is considering quitting music, describing singing as nothing short of slavery.

Despite being behind several chart-topping hits, Dokta Brain, born Nkwanga Geoffrey, says performing on stage was never meant to be a lifetime commitment. According to the creative, music should only be done for a season—not forever.
“At one point, I may stop singing because I see it as slavery. It is slavery. You need to do it for some time, then rest,” Dokta Brain said.
“If you master the game, you can take big steps. And if it benefits you so much that you can’t quit, then you should learn from it and later be the one offering the final service.”
Dokta Brain started his journey over a decade ago as a songwriter, writing songs for some of Uganda’s biggest artists before later stepping into the spotlight himself.
However, while fans enjoy seeing him perform, the artist admits that singing stresses him, unlike songwriting—which he says comes naturally and effortlessly.

“I cannot die on stage personally. But I will never abandon the pen,” he said.
“I keep writing even when I don’t want to. If I had decided to just write and not sing, I would be the fattest person in the room. Writing is effortless, but singing stresses me and makes me lose weight.”
Dokta Brain made it clear that songwriting is his true calling, something he will do for life, even if he eventually walks away from the microphone.
His revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans urging him to stay in music, while others applaud him for speaking honestly about the pressures of the industry.
