Producer Wani: The Man Behind the Sound You Hear Every Day

Chances are, if you’ve danced to a Ugandan hit in the last few years, Producer Wani had something to do with it. While artists take centre stage, Wani has been one of the guys behind the boards, shaping the sound that fills taxis, bars, and house parties across the city.

Wani came up from the grind of Kampala studios, cutting his teeth at Budir Studios in Makindye, where competition is stiff and only serious talent survives. Long studio nights, tight deadlines, and demanding artists helped him sharpen his ear and build a sound people could connect with instantly.

His name started ringing louder after working with Sheebah Karungi on songs like “Kisasi Kimu” and “Tunywe”. Those tracks became street anthems heavy on radio, crazy in clubs, and unavoidable wherever music was playing. For many fans, that sound defined a whole era of Ugandan pop.

Producer Wani’s legacy is deeply woven into Uganda’s music story, marked by songs that have carried both joy and emotion across generations.

Among his most touching works is Ebaluwa by the late AK47—a song that continues to stir memories and emotions for fans who still feel the loss of one of Uganda’s brightest talents. His catalogue also includes major hits like Agenda by Ziza Bafana and Tunywe by Sheebah Karungi, records that defined moments on radio and dance floors nationwide.

Wani’s reach spans across, with productions such as Bubble by Pallaso, Kankwambale by Minayo, and Ndi Wuwo by Bebe Cool, as well as newer anthems like Mpulira Bibyo and Olimba by Grenade Official, Maama Bulamu by John Blaq, Kwata Echupa by Nutty Neithan, and Obuwoomi by Karole Kasita songs that continue to connect deeply with Ugandans, long after their first play.

Now based at LMS Hub Kampala, Producer Wani is still in the studio, still working. He’s producing new music, polishing fresh talent, and helping young artists find their sound. Those who’ve passed through LMS Hub say his input goes beyond beats he gives direction, structure, and real studio discipline.

Low-key but consistent, Producer Wani continues to push Uganda’s sound forward, proving you don’t need noise to make impact.
