Sheilah Gashumba Announces Legal Crackdown on Cyber Harassment Using Her Name

Media personality Sheilah Gashumba has issued a firm warning to her critics, announcing that she will begin taking legal action against anyone who engages in cyber harassment using her name.

Speaking via her Snapchat platform, Sheilah made it clear that she has reached her limit with online abuse and is prepared to invoke Uganda’s cyber harassment laws to deal with offenders. She emphasized that defamatory, abusive, or harassing content directed at her will no longer be ignored.

In a strongly worded message, Sheilah described the move as an “end of friendship lecture,” cautioning social media users to think carefully before posting anything about her online.

“Secondly this year we shall be using the cyber harassment bill on most of you. Just live in Uganda and post any cyber harassment using my name, anything that describes me from today, 4th Jan,” she stated.

Although she did not single out specific individuals, the warning appeared to be directed at critics, trolls, and social media users who frequently discuss or attack her online. Her message suggests a zero-tolerance approach going forward, with legal consequences for anyone found guilty of harassment.

While it remains unclear who exactly prompted the warning, the statement serves as a broad caution to anyone planning to malign or defame her name on digital platforms. Sheilah’s announcement highlights a growing trend among public figures in Uganda turning to legal avenues to combat online abuse and cyber harassment.
