“Stay Relevant Through Music, Not Attacks!” – Eddy Kenzo Fires Back at Bebe Cool Over Copyright Law Remarks

Big Talent Boss Eddy Kenzo has finally broken his silence and strongly responded to Bebe Cool’s recent remarks that appeared to undermine his role in the fight for Uganda’s Copyright Law.

Speaking to journalists this morning, a visibly upset Eddy Kenzo dismissed Bebe Cool’s claims that he was speaking “out of ignorance” on matters concerning Uganda’s copyright management system. Kenzo maintained that he, alongside other Ugandan artists, has invested years of hard work creating music that resonates with fans locally and internationally.

According to Kenzo, Bebe Cool has developed a habit of attacking artists whose songs are trending, simply to remain relevant in the public eye.

“After our songs go viral, he jumps on that artist whose song is trending so he can stay relevant. That’s what he has done for years. I advise him to go back to the studio and make good music that people enjoy instead of attacking others,” Kenzo said.

The Sitya Loss hitmaker further emphasized that relevance in the music industry should be earned through creativity and good music, not controversy and criticism of fellow artists.

Kenzo also made it clear that this would be the last time he publicly addresses issues involving Bebe Cool, stating that he does not wish to give him any more attention. Despite his frustration, Kenzo showed restraint, noting that Bebe Cool’s children are his friends and he wouldn’t want to disrespect their father in public.

“This is my very last time speaking about him. We focus on our music while he isn’t even sure whether he is singing in Luganda or English. His children are my friends, and I don’t want to abuse him. I apologize to his family, but your person is foolish,” Kenzo added.

The exchange has once again ignited debate within the Uganda music industry, especially on leadership, relevance, and the ongoing struggle for effective copyright protection for artists.
