Halima Namakula Recalls Mowzey Radio’s Stubborn Nature and Powerful Voice

Veteran singer and humanitarian Halima Namakula has shared touching memories of the late Goodlyfe Crew singer Mowzey Radio, highlighting his strong personality and lasting influence on Uganda’s music industry.

Speaking during a recent interview, Namakula revealed that one of her most unforgettable memories of the fallen music icon was his stubborn character and loud, unmistakable voice—traits that made him stand out both on and off the stage.

According to Namakula, Mowzey Radio would often shout her name from a distance just to get her attention, something she says perfectly reflected his bold and fearless nature.

“What I remember most about the late Mowzey Radio is that he was very stubborn. He would shout at the top of his voice while calling you from afar,” she recalled.

The legendary singer also opened up about Radio’s musical journey, noting that he once recorded what she believes was his first-ever collaboration with a female artist, her daughter Rachel K.

“He also recorded a song with Rachel K. I think it was his first collaboration with a female musician,” Namakula added.

Mowzey Radio, who passed away in 2018, remains one of Uganda’s most celebrated music icons. His unique voice, emotional delivery, and songwriting skills continue to inspire artists and fans across generations.

Halima Namakula’s reflections offer a rare and personal glimpse into the life of the Goodlyfe singer, further cementing his legacy as a fearless artist whose impact on Ugandan music will never be forgotten.
