Singer-turned-politician Nina Roz has called for unity within Uganda’s music industry, describing it as the missing ingredient needed for growth, sustainability, and stronger representation on the continental stage.
Speaking candidly, Nina Roz noted that one of the biggest challenges facing the industry last year was disunity among artists—a gap she believes continues to hold back meaningful progress.
According to the artiste, collaboration and collective effort are essential if Ugandan musicians are to compete and represent the country effectively beyond its borders.
“In 2026, one way to streamline the music industry is by uniting, a quality we lacked in the previous year,” Nina Roz said. “If we don’t unite, we won’t enjoy anything, and we can’t represent the country at the continental level.”
Despite transitioning into politics, Nina Roz reaffirmed her deep-rooted connection to music, crediting it as the foundation of her success and personal growth.

“I can never do away with music. Music made me what I am today. I have a great deal of respect for it, which is why I wish for everything positive to happen in our music industry,” she stated.
She further emphasized the economic potential of the creative sector, noting that proper organization and support could see significant revenue flow into the country through talent and creativity.
“There is a lot of money that can come into the country through creatives and talent,” she added.
Turning to her political ambitions, Nina Roz revealed that access to clean water would be her top priority if elected to parliament. She highlighted the dire conditions faced by the people she hopes to represent.
“The moment I step into parliament, the first thing I will do is lobby for the connection of clean water,” she said. “The people I want to represent still share water with cattle, and we also face a problem of hard water.”
Her remarks position her as a leader intent on bridging both the creative and political spaces, advocating for unity in music while pushing for basic necessities and improved living conditions for her community.
